Wow, this is really exciting! I can't wait to get my hands on this feature. I've been thinking of ways to bring my readers into my creative process, especially as I work on my upcoming book. It's all about crafting little tokens of love for the unsung heroes in our communities — you know, the baristas, mail carriers, and grocery store clerks who make our daily lives brighter? Hoping the algorithm won’t be the one dictating participation and human connection as on other platforms!
I guess we all have to go into this with optimism and an open mind. I pray that Substack continues to be an outstanding community of smart unusually decent people, even as the company is apparently deciding that the app should be providing more and more dopamine hits.
My question is, when did this become a platform for “creators”? This used to be a writing platform. Now, I don’t know what it’s trying to be. I don’t know what users it will even attract…
I’m cautiously optimistic about this. It feels like it’s been a while since we’ve had any writing-centered features. Who is video for? For the kinds of writers who are also social media stars, surely. Most of us are not that, and don’t want that. But if it helps some people, I have no qualms with that. I only wish that Substack would go back to their writing-first mentality, even as it seems that all they wish for is more money.
Going live at 8pm BST, Christina and gang. Can't wait to share some of the collective wisdom I've gleaned from my community over the past few days on perimenopause and sexual pleasure. Belts and braces: made a Note about it, started a Chat and linked to my SS on IG Stories. It'll make its way into Sunday's post, too. Can't wait to make use of this feature regularly with my free and paid communities...
I refuse to have anything to do with Bill Maher. He was never a good comedian anyway, and he is shown his racist face so many time in his show, so I refuse to listen to him.
Bill Maher is right 50% of the time. A VERY low percentage. He really shouldn’t be on television. But at least no one can get away with calling CNN “liberal” anymore. 👍
That's a big - PASS. No thank you very much. Although I understand that it's a free speech issue, but we all know what the results are going to be once people like that are actually up to. They always want to get their foot in the door. After that the barbarism begins.

What an exciting lineup -- PUMPED for this! Nice job, Substack team!
Thanks Steph!! <3
Let's keep Substack for reading, there are plenty of apps for lives, videos and podcasts! 😀
Too late

Let’s all work together to make this work!

Agreed, Facebook types might be the best assumption. Yikes. The pressure is - on. For advertising dollars possiblity.
Please don't cave in, Substack.
You’re right. But let’s work hard and make it work anyway.
Let’s!
Public radio is audio, public television is video, so let’s take them as an industry standard and aspire to be BETTER.
Absolutely, it's a cry for help. Let's provide that to them. I get it now.🔥

Love it Lindsay!! Excited to see how you use Live!

Nothing like an open-minded substacker!

Awesome. Excited to move my live book discussions and authors/therapist interviews from TikTok to Substack. Nice work team! 🙌
Amazing line-up!!

I’m wondering why I’m getting notifications that someone I don’t follow is going live?
So can anyone with a substack use this?
Right now it's just bestsellers but you can add your name to this list: https://on.substack.com/survey/1034033
Thanks!
