Thanks so much for including my Substack map on your weekly roundup! My son was delighted to have his cartography doodle featured (and said if only he had known it would be shared, he would have added way more detail) :) Would love to see some creative Substack maps of other readers and writers!

My month-old newsletter, "Inside Out" documents my experience of teaching journalism and memoir to incarcerated men. Here's a link to last week's class on journalism ethics. Thanks for taking a look! https://substack.com/home/post/p-141926986?r=16n09&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

Hi, I'm relatively new here with my Substack Progress and Survival. This week I veered away from my usual politics and economics with a piece about our 15 year old cocker spaniel who sadly died recently. She was a great dog and her story deserves a wider audience, I think. A couple of great pics too. Thanks.

So great to see Food regularly featured in your round ups now. I’d like to share over of my own posts on Indian food mostly because it’s a bit hatke (Hindi for off beat):

Writing this and emailing it to Derek helped me Meet him in person which is likely one of the best conversations I’ve had in 2023!

“Too many people writing have nothing interesting to say and no interesting way in which to say it.” My high school English teacher told us she could teach us to write, but she can't make us interesting.

"Got a Substack post to recommend?" Damn right I do! MINE...and before you run away, let me ask you a quick question. How many (nearly) 90-year-olds are writing about their personal experiences with people as diverse as k.d. lang and Louis Armstrong? Or Ray Charles and Billy Connolly? Or Miles Davis and Nana Mouskouri? I called it "Stories from the Edge of Music" 'cause that's where I've been for almost 60 years. Can't sing, can't play an instrument, and dance like pregnant elephant. But I hear, see, laugh and cry about the music and the artists I've been privileged to be involved with. OK, shameless self-promotion over. Thanks for reading...

Reeks of numbing Insignificance (with a touch of Woke and Ukroprop) when there's so much of real profundity and importance to choose from: Mattias Desmet, Denis Rancourt, C.J. Hopkins, Big Serge...

Mehdi Hasan is pure garbage. Corrupt. Hypocritical. Liar. Racist. Presumably a sociopath/narcissist.

The good news: substack continues to be a free speech zone, even for despicable pieces of human garbage.

So I am a subscriber to one writer on Substack, but after reading more about this platform I’m having doubts about remaining as part of the Substack community. Specifically, I’m concerned about the easy voice it provides to hate speech and misinformation. For now, I’m not dropping out, but am hopeful that this policy will soon be changed.
