Feedback: Please can you consider not including paid-only posts in these roundups, marking them, or working with the featured authors to make them free? It’s disappointing to be recommended a post by a writer new to you, that you may be interested in, only to immediately hit a paywall.

I wonder why the reader survey assumes we all live in the US? It asks if you are Republican or Democrat. What kind of a question is that for the rest of the planet? I didn’t fill it out as it is clearly targeted at US readers. Also I found the gender question rather 20th century...

The absence of comments or notes means you’re standing by the nazis?

What was your most read post in 2023? What worked for you in 2023?

My best post was about How to Grow your subscribers on Substack.

Hey, unrelated to this post. I just wanted to report a very vile Nazi substack account that I found. It probably violates all your existing rules.

Love that memoir is popping up here as a category! Wonder whether there might be some new categories launching in 2024? HNY, also!

I second the suggestion that you only include free posts. No way I’m going to sign-up without a proper taster.

And FYI how about highlighting stacks that are completely free? That’s the way The Truth About Everything rolls and I’d love to check out other crazy ass Stackers.

The Arizona tribes have plenty of problems to solve without worrying about the Moon. Just saying.

I loved this piece by Jeffrey Streeter, https://substack.com/@englishrepublicofletters. If you haven't found him yet, find him now. Every post rich in word and meaning.

Today on the anniversary of January 6th coup attempt, because of this platform’s irresponsible pro-nazi policy I’m unsubscribing from all Substack newsletters and tell all newsletters this same message. And advising all clients going forward about the many alternatives like Ghost Pro, etc.

Running is never a good idea. Ask Neville Chamberlain how that worked out. Better yet ask Churchill. Just b/c an asshole shows up at your favorite restaurant is no reason to never go back. Just b/c the Klan marches down your street is no reason to move. Never cede one centimeter. I have shown up to witness the Klan exercise their American right to freedom of assembly and the witnesses far outnumbered the marchers. Our US rep then spoke at a nearby church. It was a great day. Keep your friends close; but your enemies closer. It’s best to know what they’re up to.

I’ve been on Substack for a year with my personal newsletter, Sixburnersue, and now am excited to announce that Cook the Vineyard, the very popular cooking newsletter I edit here on Martha’s Vineyard for The Vineyard Gazette Media Group (publishers of the 177-year-old broadsheet, The Vineyard Gazette) has moved over to Substack this month! I’m a four-time cookbook author and former editor of Fine Cooking magazine who has been living on the Vineyard for 15 years, writing, editing and farming. Cook the Vineyard is packed with recipes and tips that help you cook seasonally, and it includes local intel on farm stands, food events and restaurants. Our readers are a great food-loving community. Many are Islanders, many are seasonal Vineyard residents living all around the country and world, many are former Fine Cooking subscribers, and many who have never visited Martha’s Vineyard have subscribed for the recipes and inspiration. All have a shared love of cooking and eating in season and being inspired by local ingredients and food producers no matter where they live. Would love it if Substack Reads could give us a shout out! Thank you. https://cookthevineyard.substack.com/

Nadia Gerassimenko’s latest offering, “It’s the season for reading horror comics” (https://whenhopewrites.substack.com/p/its-the-season-for-reading-horror), is well worth reading.

Have enjoyed much entertaining and education thanks to Substack. As a small irritant, I have one formerly desirable poster who has shifted dramatically to a very high percentage of paid-only material using free beginnings as a teaser.

How do I unsubscribe from this writer?

Hi Substack! For those of us who write about literature and history, it would be great if we had the option to use italics in the titles and subtitles of our posts. Otherwise, if we're referencing the name of a novel in the title, it makes it look as if we don't know proper formatting.

And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. -Jeremiah 29:13

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. -John 3:16

Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.

If are in North America, please go check out any of the churches available to you: PCA, OPC, Rpcna/Rpc, Urcna, or a canrc church

(These are conservative and actual Presbyterian churches)

If you can’t find one of the conservative presby churches then, maybe a Lcms or Wels Lutheran church.

If you are Scottish, I recommend the Free Church of Scotland and the APC

(Different from the Church of Scotland)

If you are English I recommend the Free Church of England.

(Different from the Church of England)

Online you can look up church finders for each of the groups and it will show you locations.
