Great to see Candace featured! If you haven’t checked out her work, it’s a definite subscribe. Her illustrations are gorgeous and her lettering is impeccable. Happy to see Chaz featured as well who has very funny illustrations that aptly summarize some slice of life we can relate to.

Going to bookmark the video game article and case against story. Both look interesting. I also see Who Made the Potato Salad has been featured again! Love KJ’s content on Instagram and have swung by his Substack to show some support. Glad to see him again.

The Case Against Story looks intriguing.

Loved this: “It’s not just endless iterations of the hero’s goddamned journey that I find vapid. All plot-driven genres bore me. They’re the recipe approach to art. Get all the right ingredients, follow the algorithm, and dish up pabulum that goes down easy.”

100% true. Plot-based entertainment is fun sometimes but literary fiction that makes us THINK deeply is crucial. We’ve largely lost this in the midst of the contemporary culture wars where everything has become dumbed down and ideological. Literature and genuine Art seem to largely be a thing of the past. The culture no longer values insightful, free-thinking intelligence and transgressive ideas. It’s all tribalism.

Good stuff. Keep supporting new writers as they need it most. And good to see there is a mixture of reads and not always poetry and news.

Video games helped me with my 1st Million $ back when I was a teen. I would buy low and sell high to my classmates and school mates. It was bringing me in excess of $100K/year. And Vintage video games are always in high demand. Here’s my story as how Video games helped me become a Millionaire before I turned 17.

Everton Fan Media is revolutionising football fan engagement, becoming the first Premier League Fan Media Channel to join Substack this month with 'More Than A Game' and creating a new platform for passionate readers. Experienced sports journalist Patric Ridge heads up the editorial content, with insightful articles, interviews with ex players, podcasts and video content revolving around the global game, with a special emphasis on European Leagues and the MLS. Incredibly, within the first couple of weeks of launch, this dynamic venture has built up an impressive portfolio of content. It would be amazing if you could give the page a plug on your 'Substack Reads' newsletter and I've selected this article for your readership on Messi Mania in the MLS Weekly newsletter which also includes a podcast. https://mtag.substack.com/p/mls-weekly-messi-mania

If video game designers could create games that have a red-light filter, or less blue light, this would save our eyes, and we'd probably get less addicted to the game as less blue light = less dopamine:
