It would be wonderful if recommendations had their own separate space so the comments are not cluttered with links/we are able to actually see comments that are discussing the post at hand.
Love this rec for The Matterhorn, which I was just going to also shout out! And also, two other wonderful Substacks in the Classic Lit corner: A Narrative of Their Own, and Beyond Bloomsbury. Enjoy!
What a lovely piece - so true that Austen presents one empowered woman after another, as you say! You get an impressive amount of engagement on your posts - and some of our community overlaps, with some wonderful readers and writers in this Substack-Classic Lit community that is growing. Thanks for sharing, and glad to be connected.
Agreed. Also, I’m starting to dislike locking comments to paid subscribers if your fan base is fairly small. Hard to get to know a writer when there is no way to converse with them.
I don't think I'll be painting my nails at a bus stop any time soon but I can see the attraction! I'd like to recommend Kerri Aber's newsletter. She is trying to make it to Broadway, and is chronicling her journey: https://threesmallsmiles.substack.com/
Hello all, I’m very much enjoying the Substack JourneyCasts (link below to one of my favorites). A true Renaissance writer, the author shares ruminations about the outdoors, writing, fly fishing, guitars, literature, and parenting, among others. A hidden gem. Check it out.
I'm going to shamelessly plug my new Substack here if y'all would indulge me. This is a piece about the strange realization that modern culture has programmed me to have two opposite, simultaneous reactions to comedy from the previous decade. Check it:
Congrats to the featured publications. Well done writers! and well done Substack. Keep featuring them and keep going. Coffee Times wouldn't mind being featured too! And I certainly look forward to seeing my publication on Substack Reads one day.
thanks for the shout out!!!! always deeply honored to see my name next to such smart and articulate people <3
The How to be a Better Lover piece resonated with me. The whimsy was delightful.
I've really been enjoying reading Inner Workings by Rae Katz lately

This month my biggest discovery on Substack has been the writing of Kathleen Waller. Such intelligence and depth. Called The Matterhorn:

Oh, by the way, I recently wrote a few paragraphs about Jane Austen.

Thanks. Definitely.
So disappointing when exciting and fresh new writers are featured but don’t make their articles viewable to all. Would love to consider subscribing.

My pleasure, Kerri!

Home is a Cup of Tea is gorgeous!!! Thank you so much for featuring this Substack. That’s a subscribe for sure.
I’d recommend Incidentally by Mary Kate Nyland. It’s the silly little crumbs of life and it’s a funny read.

Feist’s newsletter!!!
Home is a cup of tea is so lovely! 🫖
apologies if it's a faux pas, but I'm going to shamelessly plug my recent post about adopting a dog: https://thisisbullshitandsocanyou.substack.com/p/we-are-pawsitively-thrilled-you-want
Thank you for these highlights. It always gives me clues on how to improve my Substack. So many creative folks out there. 👏 https://open.substack.com/pub/jrichardson/p/the-gas-station?r=1oao9o&utm_medium=ios&utm_campaign=post
