What a gift today to read you and find out about your cookbook! I don't read my substack mail, but today I did and I'm 76 and am TIRED with a capital T of cooking. Decades of that is enough. I think I'm off to the grocery to buy zuchinni, tomatoe and chicken sausage to eat while I look through your recipes! Thank you for posting ;)

Adore you!! my Brooklyn tour event was supposed to be in partnership with books are magic, but we had to move the event outside of where your team likes to operate. Was so so bummed not to get to do an event with BAM! Next time!!!

Well, Caroline, knowing that you are a Mother is fact enough for me. My best cooking is spicy Thai stir-fry w/ "nahm prik gabpi" w/ smelly shrimp paste.

This Iowa farm-boy drafted 'Nam VFW went to SE Asia and would have never returned to this now totally fucked USSA except for very loving parents now past. If was even 20 years younger would be the "Rus" sharing that same spicy Thai w/ interested ladies there and . . . ? What the USA once was the "Rus" is becoming! Even at 77+, thinking about returning to Penang to write a biography about such an amazing life that most readers would believe to be fiction. So many cultures/languages experienced.

Saw you on GMA this morning and loved your vibe (and the purpose of your cookbook). Sifting through my email I find that you're this week's Substack curator extraordinaire. What are the chances? All the congratulations!

You forgot about the great K9 Detective series Ringo and Benny B. You have to read it, it's a fun adventure. Congratulations to the 100 best books, but I will settle for being number 101. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Delightful to read your tales!

You mentioned food, and children. Here is a thought, to support Organic Foods:

A conventional plant source of protein are seeds, like wheat & other grains; soy and chickpeas and other beans; almonds and other nuts. These all contain Residues of Glyphosate allowed by Codex Alimentarious, of the FAO. Glyphosate is an artificial amino acid, nearly identical to Glycine. Dr. Stephanie Sennef says the Glycine, dominant in tendons + ligaments, might be replaced by Glyphosate; this residue is allowed by 'Regulators,' from Roundup. Glyphosate will be an unpredictable weak segment of the protein. Forever.
