HONOURED to be featured and proud to be a card carrying member of the substack fan club. VERY surreal being interviewed by *the* Farrah Storr, too. What is happening?!?! Feeling explosively joyful!

Congrats! (And I feel the same way! This is so wonderful and I am FLOATING ON AIR because of your sweet mention of the Department of Salad. The feelings are mutual, of course!)

exactly. Applies to everything e.g. The best time to bake a cake was yesterday (I wish I had some cake right now)

What a fantastic read and hugely inspired to lean into our individual quirks - as writers but also as humans - and be unafraid about sharing, deeply and enthusiastically, the things that bring us joy, keep us awake, and feed our souls.

"To be unashamedly obsessed with whatever you are into. To not shy away from details and to get deep into whatever it is that you love." - I LOVE THIS!

Thanks for putting this out there!

As someone who's followed a similar path, I find Nicola's journey and experience encouraging. It's definitely not easy to shift from a Chef's life to a Writer's Life...from hours on your feet to hours on your butt in front of a computer...from confidence to self-doubt...and much more.

So, kudos to Nicola and her success...and to all the others who continue to search for their niche in the Substack universe.
